Kio & Gus Teacher's Manual Shurley English Level 3 Practice Booklet
Price: $69.95
Price: $15.50
In Philosophy for Children, students begin by reading texts in the form of stories. These stories are about fictional children who discover how to reason more effectively, and how to apply their reasoning to life situations. These stories are then discussed by the children in the classroom. Many problematic issues are encountered and examined. The students deliberate among themselves, and this process of deliberation is then internalized by the individual students: they become more reflective and begin to think for themselves. These deliberations evoke thinking that is skillful and deliberate, thinking that employs relevant criteria, is self-correcting, and is sensitive to context. It is not just any kind of thinking: it is critical thinking.
If you're pressed for time, or would like the convenience of having all your materials laid out and ready to go, the Shurley Practice Booklet will be a welcome addition to your Shurley homeschooling curriculum! This booklet contains the same introductory and practice sentences that are included in the teacher's manual, but instead of having to copy them elsewhere, students can easily classify the sentences in this easy-to-use time saver.

Price: $18.99
Price: $12.95
Originally written as a protest against cruelty and ill treatment of horses, this compassionate tale has captured the imagination of generations of children. The saga begins with Black Beauty as a young thoroughbred in a stable with his beloved Squire Gordon, who is forced to sell the horse, beginning a tragic but exciting journey. The sweet-tempered horse must deal with broken knees, narrow escapes from disaster, and the drudgery of pulling a London cab for a cruel owner, before he finally experiences the well-deserved peace of his later years. Cautionary Verses has for more than 75 years been the adult's favorite children's book and the children's favorite adult book. Can there be a father who is not smiles all over when he reads to his children at bedtime the dreadful tale of Jim Who Ran Away From His Nurse And Was Eaten By A Lion?
